Aerial Has Fallen Down

If your aerial has broken or is hanging off the roof then chances are that it has been up there for a long time. An aerial is expected to last about 15 years. After this time the aerial becomes brittle and the pole and brackets become weak. The cable will eventually decay in the sun and may even let water in causing potential damage to whatever is connected at the ever end (ie. The television). When this happens it is time to have the whole lot replaced for new.

If it is just the aerial which has broke you should also consider replacing the pole, brackets and cable. You would not want your new television aerial to come down in the next storm just because you did not replace the old pole and bracket. Similarly if your pole or cable has broke due to old age then there is a good chance that even though the aerial is still intact upon closer inspection it is probably not worth reusing.
